The return of LJ!

First of all, happy birthday to the fabulous thrihyrne, without whom I would never have come to LJ, and to the fantastic seemag, who has been an inspiration to me for many years indeed. Best wishes and many happy returns to you both!

Second, I am beside myself with joy at the news that the short-lived series Miracles -- I gave it a 9/10 rating, if you are interested in a review -- is coming to DVD in April, complete with its never-before-aired episodes. This is genre news worth celebrating. Congratulations to all of the fans whose support helped to make this happen.

Third, Revolution Science Fiction has added its latest installment of its "Top 75 Heroines of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror" countdown with the new Part IV. My contributions include the sections on Éowyn from The Lord of the Rings and Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series.

Fourth, I've added Xanadu 8/DeepSouthCon 43 to the list of conventions where I'll be speaking this summer.

And last, a quote of the day:

"...Let the future remain uncertain
For that is the canvas to receive our desires.
Thus the human condition faces
Its perpetual tabula rasa.
We possess no more than this moment
Where we dedicate ourselves
Continuously
To the sacred presence we share and create."

from "Words of Murbella's Proctor," Frank Herbert

Well, the review sure made me wish I hadn't missed Miracles while it was on TV! I guess I will have to go forth and rent!

I really enjoyed the Heroines of Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Horror! I am starting to recognize your writing style.

Great quote today, too. I just copied it to my book of favorite quotes.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. It was such a beautiful show, as well as one with a deeper theme and message. I'm so anxious to see the episodes that never aired! There's a good site here with more information about the show.

And thanks so much for checking out the Heroines countdown! :) I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and the quote, too. Hope you're having a great day! (((Estellye)))

Awww... thank you!
Due to my birthday party, I never knew that LJ was down!! Seeing everybody's comments in the aftermath has been very interesting. I'm glad that I didn't have to go through the anguish of it being down.

Hope you had a good weekend, and thank you for your email. I'll keep you posted on what the next steps are in my journey.

((hugs))

Re: Awww... thank you!
Well, I tried it in the morning to say "Happy Birthday," and then I realized something was wrong. I'm glad it returned in time for my wishes - hope you had an excellent day! I was glad my Éowyn bit was out, because it made me think of you. :) Please do keep me posted, and know I'm sending best wishes your way! (((hugs)))

Have just had the chance to read thru the SF heroines listing you mention. Had a hoot! Fantastic to relive my own "misspent youth" and am surprised that I knew most of the characters/actors they were talking about! Mayhap I'm a bigger geeky-nerd-girl than I realised (no, really).

Go you with the Eowyn and Hermione entries! While some of the other reviewers' 'eye-candy' write-ups were hilarious, it's gratifying to have different, er, values profiled. ;)

LOL! Thank you so much! :) I can't complain about the 'eye-candy' bits, since they let me turn the tables with my "Sci-Fi and Fantasy Hunks" piece after they started this Heroine Countdown, but I was pleased to get to praise some noteworthy young role models. It is fun to see how many you recognize. Their lists are always pop culture literacy exams!
