I'm back - with pictures!

Hello again, everyone! We made it to North Carolina, and we're busily unpacking. Thanks to everyone for the good wishes on the move.

A couple of quick notes:

* I am quoted in today's Orlando Sentinel article "Can Hurin knock Harry off his broom? The genius behind 'Lord of the Rings' has a best-seller from beyond the grave."

* You were all most kind and patient about the pictures of the house when we first saw it, so now that we're here I've uploaded some new pictures of the house, walking trails, and neighborhood.

Here's a favorite I took from the walking trail next to our new home:

P5270069

* I also put some more pictures on Flickr, including pictures of Virginia, the world's most beautiful Boston terrier, and photos I took before leaving Lebanon, Tennessee, of the historic Cedar Grove cemetery and a private cemetery on Franklin Road, as well as the historic marker at Buchanan's Station in Nashville, which is relevant to my work on Tecumseh. My pictures from my trip to Iceland are also available there.

I look forward to catching up with everyone shortly.

Glad to hear that you arrived safely. I hope you'll be very happy in your new home.

All the best with the unpacking.

Your pictures are gorgeous - thanks for sharing them.

And the one above is particularly splendid.

1. i have an odd fascination with historic cemeteries, so much thanks for those gorgeous pics

2. you do realize some of the pics you took of virginia should be submitted to one of those calendars with boston terriers, right? especially the one of her lying on the staircase with the sun shining just right. lovely.

3. how is virginia adjusting to her new home, btw?

4. yay for quotage! "Tolkien has still got game." that has to be my new favorite phrase. very wonderful phrasing there!

5. much love from this side of the internet

It's so good to find someone else who likes old graveyards! I find them - and the artwork in them - fascinating.

Thanks a million for the kind words about my pictures of Virginia! :) You absolutely made my day. I think it's impossible for her to take a bad photo - but, then again, I'm rather biased! Ha.

She's very happy in the new place, now that our furniture is here. She started getting freaked back at our former home, when most of the furniture was packed, and when we arrived here, in an equally empty place, she was no happier. Then the furniture arrived, and we surrounded her with familiar things that looked and smelled and felt like home, and she immediately calmed down and started ruling the roost just like usual! Now she acts as if we've always been here.

And she loves the walking trails!

yay for quotage! "Tolkien has still got game."

LOL! I didn't know whether to cringe or laugh when I saw that quote, so I decided to laugh. Thanks for the kind words.

Much love right back at you!

Oh, that reminds me, did you see this:

And would you like a tape of it?

I was SO psyched about it, and then I was utterly frustrated that our DirecTV wasn't installed until the following week. I've been anxious to see when the DVD would be available, so I could see it. Might you have a tape you could lend me? *hopeful voice* I would be SO thrilled to get to see it! Thanks for asking - you are the very best!!!

Not a problem, my friend. I'll have it to you soon.

That reminds me, did you ever get to watch all the Masters of Horror episodes, and "X - The Man With the X-Ray Eyes"?

You rule at life, Squid Man! A thousand thank yous.

I did make it through the Masters of Horror episodes. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality. I particularly like how each director really made each segment feel unique and individual, like the series really was a sequence of real, stand-alone films. I see that the "Black Cat" installment with Jeffrey Combs as Poe is due out on DVD very soon.... (Woohoo!) By the way, have you seen this? Combs and Dourif in the same film might make my head explode. :)

I'm already planning my October film lineup for this year, and "X - The Man with the X-Ray Eyes" is topping the list.

You're such a good influence on me. :) Thanks a million for all your goodies.

A pleasure to be of service. I can't wait to see what you have to say about "X".

I enjoyed Masters, but completely missed the second season as there was either no or limited promotion about it. But I want to get the "Dreams in the Witch House" and "Cigarette Burns", as they were my faves of the first season run.

I missed you too! And I must carve out some time to email you. I saw Repo Man (fun) and, finally, Pan's Labyrinth (which I adored), and I have so many things to talk with you about... not to mention your WisCon adventure! *hugs*

Re: Welcome back.........
Thanks! Ah, unpacking. Tell me, do you think that the boxes multiply when we're not looking?

You'll be proud of me, though: while going through my first bout of unpacking, I listened to an unabridged reading of Leroux's Phantom of the Opera. I was thinking of you!

Incidentally, this is now available for ordering...

I am sending best wishes in your direction!

Probably......
though mine multiplied before I moved. The movers kept carrying in boxes (I downsized from home to condo) and I thought "Where the heck am I going to put all this stuff"?LOL

I bought some shelves and put most of my books up. Have a little left but not that much.

good luck with the unpacking!

*hugs*
Chris

PS--Thanks for the link. I do appreciate it:)

Thanks so much! Good wishes are welcome - I think our boxes multiplied like tribbles when we weren't looking! *wink* Thanks for the kind words, as well! I hope all is great in your neck of the woods.
