A Poll!

io9 has posted a (rather U.S.-centric) list: "Your Complete Guide to Fall Science Fiction TV."

Which leads me to a question: what, if any, science fiction/fantasy shows will you be returning to and/or trying out this Fall? (Note: Day One, Past Life, Caprica, Human Target, and the new seasons of Chuck, Lost, and Better off Ted will not air until 2010.)

Poll #1451333 What Science Fiction/Fantasy Shows Do You Plan To Watch This Fall?

Oh, hey, you did sort of miss one, but it's already airing, so you are excused: Defying Gravity.

D'Oh! Thanks so much for mentioning this. I'll edit the post to make note of that.

Flash Forward is one I haven't heard of. I'll have to check it out. I've been watching Warehouse 13 which is fun.

I'm going to give FlashForward a try, I think - it has potential.

Hmm... almost enough to make me interested in turning on the TV :P I remember when V first aired... caught a little of it. An intense and sometimes scary show (from what I remember). Hope they manage to recapture some of the orginial series excitement.

Eastwick... it sounds like they are trying to make it a soft-core porn TV show :P Though at least they have Rebecca Romjin (Mystique from X-men among others). Would take someone like her to try to fill in for Cher. As for the Devil... I'm afraid he is going to be sunk as its hard to match Jack Nicholson.

Most all the others... I really need to get the previous seasons and you know... actually watch some of them :P

Oh, and I just remembered... The Vampire Diaries is essentially holding open auditions for extras at DragonCon :P

Did you watch the original V? Do you remember the ad campaign?

Yes, I loved the original V! And oh my gosh, those original ads... I hadn't thought of that in years. I was young enough back then that now the hair stands up on the back of my neck, thinking about it.

I watch Dr. Who, Being Human and Torchwood on the BBCAm as they rerun them, as well as the occasional Eureka, surfing past Warehouse 13 when totally bored. Sanctuary I follow for glimpses of Jim Byrnes and Peter Wingfield, because it's mandatory *g*. Which also puts the Riverworld series on the horizon (don't know when that is scheduled for release.)

Sep. 3rd, 2009 01:53 pm (UTC)
Oh, excellent point about Riverworld! I don't know either when that's scheduled to air. I'm very intrigued, though - of course, they had me at the casting. *wink*

None of the above (oh, all right, probably "Dollhouse" but it damn well better improve), but I *am* looking forward to two "Battlestar Galactica" spinoffs: "The Plan" and "Caprica".

Oh, right!

Between the casting, the early buzz, and my nostalgia, I'm cautiously optimistic about V, so I'll give it a try.

Warehouse 13, and I think Caprica will air in the new year? And there's the Riverworld miniseries as well.

Riverworld definitely has me intrigued - have they decided, do you know, if it's to be a miniseries or full series?

I rarely follow shows on TV anymore, but occasionally I'll watch Medium. I don't know if that can be classified as sci fi/fantasy, but it seems kind of similar to a few shows you have up there. And I don't know if there's a new season of it this fall or not.

Sep. 3rd, 2009 02:00 pm (UTC)
Oh, good catch! You're quite right, that fits.

On the whole, I find these days I'm much more likely to take up a show by sampling a season of the DVDs via Netflix than actually watching the TV while the season is airing. There are a couple of exceptions, though. I'll definitely be giving V a try.

I checked Supernatural, as I'll be catching up on the series with Netflix, and taping Season 5 so I can watch that once I'm all caught up. :D As they cancelled two of my favorite shows last year (Life, and Terminator: SCC), I'll have some free time.

I didn't check Dollhouse, though I might cave and give it a second try for a show or two. I wasn't overly impressed with it. Bring back Firefly, FOX! I want my shiny back!

I'm with you! (Both with the fact I wasn't overly impressed with Dollhouse and with wanting shiny Firefly back.) I'll definitely be giving V a try; the buzz is good and I loved the original, plus it has Inara and Wash in it! ;)

Oh, looking at the comments I just realised perhaps you meant shows that would air in America? Anyway, my additional show is Merlin, which starts in a couple of weeks!

The article, unfortunately, was pretty much all about America, but for my purposes, it's all good! (I have a hard time remembering what comes from where these days. I watch a lot of UK SF!) Thanks for adding a vote for Merlin.

Oh dear, there are some I have not even heard of. Must start paying attention - tv in summer is usually just boring repeats. Ah, wait, It is all USA! I tikced a couple that I am just hoping will be shown later in the hear.

I will very likely watch Dollhouse if it is broadcast in the UK, other than on subscription channels.

Other than Supernatural (and I haven't been entirely happy about certain directions the show has been going in), none of them really tickle my fancy. I've seen the pilot for Caprica and, while it has its issues, it looks to have some promise. And hats!

Another one for Merlin, and I will be watching Supernatural and Dollhouse when they air in the UK, though I'm not sure whether that will be this autumn or in the New Year.

Oh, and Doctor Who, of course. :-)
