Greetings all! I am in the midst of writing at the moment -- well, compiling footnotes, if you must know -- but I thought I would pause and say hello.

As some of you know, I am quite fond of compiling geeky CDs for my personal amusement, and it struck me that some of you might have fun with the songs I've found. So below, please find my track listing for mixes based on Star Wars and Harry Potter. I know there's a lot of music out there (these just represent some favorites), but if I've missed a song you think is a "must hear," please let me know. Thanks!

Harry: I said no.
Draco: Professor! Potter's not lettin' me represent for the Dark Side!
Snape: Potter, let Malfoy kick it old school or it's detention.

LOL! Brilliant quote ;)
And good lists -I've never heard the 'Rage against the mundane' song for the HP list, must look it out.
BTW, I've been meaning to ask you- have you read any of the 'Artemis Fowl' books by Eoin Colfer? If not, you must! They are about an Irish 14-y/o criminal genius who discovers the fairy world. Very funny and clever. They've the same sort of tone as HP, but I think they are more fun and, well, he's an Irish author ;)

Thanks - I hope you like them! You are the second person of excellent taste who has recommended the 'Artemis Fowl' books to me. I'm sorry to say I haven't read any yet, but now I simply must. You've convinced me! :) They do sound very clever. Thanks so much for the suggestion!

Or even...points to icon. I am loving an underage wizard and an unattainable Jedi right now. This is terrible. LOL.

Awsomeness. Yeah, I saw that. I will have to listen to them at the coffeehouse when I am on WiFi. I didn't want to try to download while I am on dialup. I really need to get a real job so I can get cable. *Sigh*

Awesome! I never can get the Yoda (Weird Al) song out of my head... I've literally been humming it for years. :::Augh::: It does remind me, however, that I must find the album it's on because that album also has the "Marvin, I Love You" song which I've been humming since HGttG last week... Not to mention, "Fish Heads". Have I properly dated myself? ;-)

Oh my gosh - "FISH HEADS"! Now it's playing on continual loop in my head. :) LOL.

You want real fun? Head to Dragon*Con and catch Bill Mummy playing it live acoustic.

When I saw him perform it in '02, one of the geeks behind us told us she loved that "Fish Song that she had never heard before." I felt oooooold.

*holds up lighter* "Ballad of William Robinson," man! Play it!

I love that song. It even beats "Fish Heads."

That is a great, sad song.

Isn't it, though? I always wished they'd kept the series as serious as they'd originally intended it, because it really had potential to be rather dark (as the comics later were). Bill Mumy hit all those points - the death of the father, the two young women/one handsome pilot problem, Will being all alone, etc. ::sniffle::

ack! no sound, no dice on my computer.

Actually- random question, on you work on fanfic, would you include anything about Anne Rice the-one-who-must-not-be-named? she is rather psycho -i mean-did you see her response to the amazon review? Certifiable! And sending lawyers after fanficcers- lawd!

Good question! I've talked about her when I've lectured on fan fiction, and I could imagine writing about her, as well. She's one of many who have employed attorneys to go after fans, but some of the others eventually have changed their tunes (Chris Carter, George Lucas), and of the anti-fan fiction folks left, she seems to be the most visible -- and, as you rightly point out, the most unhinged! Did you see the Fandom Wank reaction to her Amazon post? The icons made with quotes from her response were just too funny. When authors take themselves that seriously, with that degree of defensiveness, laughter must be the most unnerving reaction they can receive. Anyway, I'm rambling: the short answer is yes. :) You, too, I'm guessing? She certainly makes for a lively case study.

I thought THE DARTH MAUL SONG was by Weird Al, after downloading it a hundred million years ago from Napster when it was still free. ::has been singing this song all. damn. day. Augh!::

Thanks for posting this, Amy!

Hey, long time no see! :) You're most welcome. Isn't "Darth Maul Song" a scream? I love it. Though, as you point out, once it's in your head, it wants to stay there!

Let me direct you to one of the best Star Wars songs you left off your list:

Fett's Vette by MC Chris, specifically the Baddd Spellah Remix remix. I like both versions, but prefer the radio edit of the Bad Spellah mix, I just think it's funnier that way. You can also find the video for it here. (As an aside, the Iceman Commeth video is also fun.)

MC Chris does voices for Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and was actually invited to the Ranch to see Episode III at the celebrity premier.

Oh gosh, there are so many! The one I was thinking of is at http://www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank/515245.html (and the latest, I think, is http://www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank/700735.html?page=1&view=65689407#comments . I'd suspect there are some internal links to others, as well. Hope these help! :)
