TV and Film <3

Garrow's Law is back. Fantastic. Further proof that almost everything worth watching on television includes Rupert Graves. Ha!

And this trailer for The Hunger Games, my friends, makes my week. (The very opening moment in the trailer, representing District 12, was shot in that mill town nearby that I keep posting about.)

"When I was younger, I scared my mother to death, the things I would blurt out about District 12, about the people who rule our country, Panem, from the far-off city called the Capitol. Eventually I understood this would only lead us to more trouble. So I learned to hold my tongue and to turn my features into an indifferent mask so that no one could ever read my thoughts."
- Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games

Oh, it looks good! I just hope the filmmakers didn't soften the movie too much to get it its PG-13 rating.

I really liked the little detail of the women wearing dresses at the drawing for the Tributes. That adds a nice bit of atmosphere--the sense that this is not quite our culture.

Doesn't it look great? That's a good point about the rating. I don't know how they managed that.

Yes! Very thoughtful attention to detail there.

I like the actress they picked. She's pretty, but not ridiculously so, as is typical in Hollywood. That's one young lady who looks like she could genuinely look after herself.

I'm not a massive fan of the book, but it looks like this could be good.

I agree wholeheartedly about the look of the actress. Very refreshing. She's the same one who was up for the Academy Award for Best Actress for Winter's Bone (which I loved) not long ago, too; she's young but very talented.

Oh, Rupert, LOL.

I liked the actress a lot in Winter's Bone, so I may make a point of seeing this film, even though I haven't read the book.

I loved the books (it's a trilogy, but I understand they're making it into four films), and my students did, too. I highly recommend them! It looks like this is quite a faithful adaptation. I can recognize every scene in this trailer (always a good sign). I'm with you: I loved her performance in Winter's Bone, so I have high hopes for this!

I only found out about the show a few days ago, and immediately decided I need to get S1 for my mum's Xmas gift.
