Scarce half made up

It's Saturday!

* More Harry Potter! From The Guardian: "J.K. Rowling to collaborate on Harry Potter play for West End."

* My most recent "Looking Back into Genre History" segment is up on the latest episode of StarShipSofa (Ep. 336), and it offers a look at the classic television series Dark Shadows. If you listen, I hope you enjoy!

* My tickets are bought for Martin Freeman as Richard III at Trafalgar Transformed. Score!

MFRIII

But I, — that am not shap'd for sportive tricks,
Nor made to court an amorous looking-glass;
I, that am rudely stamp'd, and want love’s majesty,
To strut before a wanton ambling nymph;
I, that am curtail'd of this fair proportion,
Cheated of feature by dissembling nature,
Deform'd, unfinish'd, sent before my time
Into this breathing world, scarce half made up,
And that so lamely and unfashionable,
That dogs bark at me, as I halt by them,—
Why, I, in this weak piping time of peace,
Have no delight to pass away the time,
Unless to spy my shadow in the sun
And descant on mine own deformity.
And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover
To entertain these fair well-spoken days,
I am determined to prove a villain
And hate the idle pleasures of these days.
- Richard III

We rule!!!!! :) Sorry, couldn't resist...

I think there is a line missing...
I am determined to prove a villain
And hate the idle pleasures of these days
But will don a pocket square and cravat

ROFLOL! High fives!

But will don a pocket square and cravat

::cackles::

I am really intrigued to see where they take the costuming for this production. We don't know if it will be historically accurate or updated or...???

And don't forget these immortal lines:
And thus I clothe my naked villany
With old odd ends stolen out of holy writ;
And seem a saint, when most I play the devil.
x#@! you, I won a BAFTA!

And proffer my middle finger at those I meet,
If they doth call me Everyman.

Yes... so many unknowns...

Really enjoyed your discussion of Dark Shadows on the Sofa. Another solid segment of genre history. Now, how to find that Lovecraftian story arc?

Oh, thank you! I'm so happy you liked it. I really appreciate your listening.

Now, how to find that Lovecraftian story arc?

Good question! I know it spans episodes 886 through 950 and first aired in the 1969/1970 season, if that helps.
