Happy Autumn Equinox!

*The Baggins Bash last night was a terrific experience! It was wonderful to see Tolkien Society friends including lizzieausten, sailingwest, hapendfro, arymetore, witchcat07, griffith_gwyn, and many others.

*Speaking of arymetore and witchcat07, they've turned me on to a terrific website I must pass along to others: The Coffee Shop of Horrors. So clever, and so yummy!

*The Save Apex Digest! raffle has added a number of science fiction/fantasy/horror items to its list. It's worth a look.

*And Happy Autumn Equinox to everyone! May you have a blessed season. In honor of the day, some poetry:

"On Fields O'er Which the Reaper's Hand Has Passed"
by Henry David Thoreau

On fields o'er which the reaper's hand has pass'd
Lit by the harvest moon and autumn sun,
My thoughts like stubble floating in the wind
And of such fineness as October airs,
There after harvest could I glean my life
A richer harvest reaping without toil,
And weaving gorgeous fancies at my will
In subtler webs than finest summer haze.

"Nature XXVII, Autumn"
by Emily Dickinson

The morns are meeker than they were,
The nuts are getting brown;
The berry's cheek is plumper,
The rose is out of town.
The maple wears a gayer scarf,
The field a scarlet gown.
Lest I should be old-fashioned,
I'll put a trinket on.

Ah, lovely, lovely autumn!!!

By the way, I owe you money for the Ghost Tour tickets-- tell me how much and I'll mail you a check. :)

Yay for autumn! :)

Thanks so much! It's a total of $26 for the two of you. If you send me a check, then you pay no more when you get there - I'll just put that toward the 50% down payment I paid to reserve the tickets.

I'm SO excited you guys can come!!! *huge hugs*

Oh, thank you. That's a lovely thing to say.

I wish I could have been there. I actually considered it. One of these days I am going to drive up for an event. It's a cakey weekend trip and I have never been to Nashville.

LOL, that website screams you. heh ;)

The only reason not have Autumn all the time is that we wouldn't have joy of greeting it each year.

Oooh, I do hope you can come up one of these days! Right now the Tolkien Society smial is planning on taking one of the Nashville Ghost Tours at 7:30pm on Oct. 28, and we're talking about getting together to see the stage productions of either The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Magician's Nephew, or both by Rising Image Productions in December/January. There's also going to be a long weekend's symposium on fairy tales at Belmont with national speakers at the end of October, and several folks will be attending that as well. If you like, I'll keep you updated on what we decide, in case you can coordinate a visit. It would be great to see you! :)

Ooo... I like the Emily Dickinson! Especially:

The maple wears a gayer scarf,
The field a scarlet gown.
Sep. 25th, 2006 12:56 pm (UTC)
Isn't that great? :)

The Dickinson one is cool! When do Ary and I need to get the money to you?
Sep. 25th, 2006 12:57 pm (UTC)
I just love Dickinson. :) If you just want to bring it that night on Oct. 28, that's fine. Thanks! By the way, I don't remember if I told you or not, but I adore your hat. It's perfect! :)

The muffin cap with lizard? Why thank you. :~)

LOL! That's the one. The lizard was the perfect touch. I just love hats, and that one is fabulous.
