I've been experiencing a few computer difficulties, but these will be taken care of later this week. My apologies for being so quiet. I will catch up soon. In the meantime, just a few comments...
First, R.I.P. to two genre legends:
* SF/horror author and screenwriter Nigel Kneale (1922-2006)
* SF/fantasy writer Nelson S. Bond (1908-2006)
And two quick publishing notes:
* My essay "'Strange and Fearful Imaginations': Rediscovering the Terror of Baron de la Motte Fouqué" will appear in the Winter 2006 edition (issue eight) of Apex Science Fiction and Horror Digest. (Read more about the issue here.)
* The J.R.R. Tolkien Encyclopedia: Scholarship and Critical Assessment is now available. (My contributions include the entries for Fan Fiction, The Lord of the Rings, Renewal, and The Shaping of Middle-Earth.) It's priced for libraries rather than individuals, unfortunately, but I look forward to going through it carefully.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The gunpowder, treason and plot,
I see of no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
