"a frost-mailed warrior "

Happy Friday! I have a few new recommendations to share:

* Maria Lectrix posts public domain audiobooks six days a week. There are some excellent offerings here, from classic science fiction to Arthurian tales and even theological texts. New chapters from both The Moon Pool by A. Merritt and The Worm Ouroboros by E.R. Eddison are currently in production.

* Inuit filmmaker Zacharias Kunuk and his co-producer Norman Cohn grabbed worldwide attention when they won honors at the Cannes Film Festival for their film Atanarjuat (The Fast Runner). Now they've created a website ( where aboriginal filmmakers can upload their films and we can view them for free. Read more here.

* Asimov's Science Fiction has posted free online copies of all of its stories that made the Nebula Awards Preliminary Ballot. Read them here.

* Greg L. Johnson of SF Site has posted his choices for the best science fiction books of 2007.

* The Sweet Charity auction is back, this time to raise funds for The WG Foundation Industry Support Fund, a foundation that supports those affected by the writer's strike who otherwise would not be able to receive help. Bid here for all kinds of fannish goodies.

"January is here, with eyes that keenly glow,
A frost-mailed warrior
striding a shadowy steed of snow."
- Edgar Fawcett
