Halloween/trick or treat

Halloween Countdown, Day 17

Today is a nostalgic day on the countdown. Does anyone else remember The Peanuts Book of Pumpkin Carols? It was an early childhood staple of mine. (You can read all of the original lyrics here.)

The Peanuts Book of Pumpkin Carols - Cover

This was my favorite:

"Shivery Yells" (To the tune of "Silver Bells")
We’re on sidewalks, we’re on porches,
Dressed in costumes to scare.
Through the city we’re ringing the doorbells.
Trick or treating, candy eating,
Gooey stuff in our hair,
But the most fun is shrieking out loud:
Shivery yells, shivery yells,
That’s the Halloween nitty-gritty.
Moan and groan, leave us alone;
Halloween’s just one night a year.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Charlie Brown: Who are you writing to, Linus?
Linus: This is the time of year to write to the Great Pumpkin. On Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises out of his pumpkin patch and flies through the air with his bag of toys for all the children!
Charlie Brown: You must be crazy. When are you going to stop believing in something that isn't true?
Linus: When you stop believing in that fellow with a red suit and the white beard who goes, "Ho, ho, ho!"
Charlie Brown: We're obviously separated by denominational differences.
