"It started out as Hogwarts..."

My friend lizzieausten is new to LiveJournal (please say "Hi!" to her if you have the opportunity), and she's currently working on a project that requires a brief survey. Are you an adult who has read one or more of the Harry Potter books? If so, please consider stopping by and agreeing to take her survey. Also, if you know of anyone else who might be willing to participate, please pass along the word. Thanks so much!

In other news...

* Amazon currently is offering The Very Best of Naxos Early Music for free download.

* Librivox.org has posted the completed reading of Life of Charlotte Brontë by Elizabeth Cleghorn Gaskell:
Part 1
Part 2

And for your Friday viewing pleasure, just in case there's anyone who hasn't seen this, here's my very favorite of the literal music videos. Ah, those crazy eighties. What were we thinking?

"It started out as Hogwarts, now it's Lord of the Flies!"

Totally off topic, I know, but I have a colleague who is going to be teaching the poems of Billy Collins for the first time from September. Don't suppose you know of any good resources/books? he's not really well-known here but she's really enjoyed reading his stuff.

Oh goodness, I'm afraid that he's not on my radar all that well. I know he's offered readings of his poems for free download online, and there are some extensive fan sites on the web with links to a number of interviews with him, but I'm not really familiar with sources about him beyond that. I'm sorry I'm not more help!

That "Literal Video Version" of "Total Eclipse" had me laughing so hard in just five minutes that my face hurt.

I'm so glad to hear it: that was my exact reaction, as well!

The Very Best of Naxos Early Music is excellent. Some of the best writing/study music I've ever found for free!

As for Total Eclipse . . . you are a very sick person for spreading this further. You do know this, right?

Ha! I'm glad you liked it. I'm never going to hear "turn around, Bright Eyes" again without thinking "Mullet with headlights!"
