Science Fiction Narration News

Happy July, everyone!

Just a quick update: yesterday I posted about my new narration of "The Island" by Peter Watts, which is available for listening or download here at StarShipSofa. This novelette has been nominated for this year's Hugo, Locus, and Theodore Sturgeon Awards.

Today my unabridged dramatic reading of Will McIntosh's short story "Bridesicle" is available on the latest episode of Escape Pod, which currently is running narrations of this and all of the other short stories nominated for this year's Hugo Award. You can download or listen to the reading here.

As always, a full list of links to my narrations and podcast segments is here.

If you listen, I hope you enjoy!

"An old man was leaning over her, smiling, but Mira barely saw him, because when she opened her mouth to inhale, her jaw squealed like a sea bird’s cry, and no breath came, and she wanted to press her hands to the sides of her face, but her hands wouldn’t come either."
- from "Bridesicle," Will McIntosh

Thanks so much! I appreciate it.

FYI, the "Bridesicle" narration is the same one that ran on StarShipSofa's Aural Delights No. 124.

I think I already gave that a listen, then. But I don't mind a re-listen.

Oh yay for you and "Bridesicle" on Escape Pod!! I felt like Mira when I woke up this morning... such a deep sleep I wasn't sure if I could move or not.

That StarShipSofa opening about the book is awesome. I LOLed, I cried... you should do more acting. ;)

Now that I have to commute (and can't read on the bus) I may have half a chance of keeping up with your podcasts. :-) I just wish my iPod was a little bigger... :::Sigh:::

I'm a bit behind with my podcasts this summer, but finally heard your narration of "The Island." Another solid, lovely performance! I'm always glad to hear a female POV character voiced by you, & I hope to hear many more on the Sofa.

Thank you so much! That makes my day. I've just arranged a new recording space (which Tony says makes my recordings sound crisper), so I'm anxious to do my next reading there and see how it turns out. I really appreciate your kind words and encouragement.
