A White Christmas

Happy birthday to cyloran! May you enjoy many happy returns of the day.

I hope everyone's enjoying a wonderful holiday season. We had an unexpectedly white Christmas with nearly a foot of snow. It rather changed our plans for the week, but it was beautiful.

Christmas Snow 2010

Here are a couple of quick links, FYI:

* From Cheryl Morgan: "A Hugo for YA Books?"

* From John O'Neill: "The Top 100 Out of Print Books of 2010."

And here's a quote for the day:

"We've got it all clear as if we had seen it."

"And yet you have sent for me?"

"Ah, yes, that's another matter -- a mere trifle, but the sort of thing you take an interest in -- queer, you know, and what you might call freakish."

- Inspector Lestrade and Sherlock Holmes, "The Adventure of the Second Stain," Arthur Conan Doyle

It's not very often that you have more snow than we do! Very pretty, indeed. :)

And thank you for the lovely Virginia card! She's such a patient dog. :)

That quote is in one of my favourite JB episodes of Sherlock Holmes. I really, really, really need to read the books again! SH is wonderful on the page.

I'm having the best time reading the complete Holmes novels/stories. I've never gone through them systematically before. I'm up to The Valley of Fear now.

*icon love*

Very pretty pictures. :-)

This is the first time we've had a white Christmas in the southern UK that I can remember - it mostly only sticks in January.

A friend of mine took some local pictures on Christmas Day.

Wow, gorgeous pictures from your friend! It's nice to know we both enjoyed a white Christmas, even though we're so far apart. :)

I adore your icon, BTW.

I'm glad you liked them. :-)

I think I'm incredibly lucky redscharlach shares so many of my fandoms, because she has such a talent for cute, clever and funny icons. The Sherlock ones are here.

Lovely photos. So far outside of my own existence... I have not seen snow like that, close up, for about 20 years.

Thanks! I wish I could live in winter 12 months out of the year - but then again, I'd miss late autumn. LOL! ;) I'll enjoy some for you, too!

And I'm wishing a wonderful 2011 for you. *hugs*

Aw, thank you! I'd like to be in snow 12 months out of the year. :)

I hope you and yours are having a great season, too. I've been thinking of you, as well. Loved your gorgeous card with your gorgeous little sweethearts! *hugs*
