The voice of Aslan....

If this is legitimate, well, it is too good to be true. I know it's early yet, but still...

The Aslan/Jedi connection works for me.

I just asked my brother, who says Rhythm & Hues (the animation company responsible for Narnia's digital effects) has hired a technical director to track camera movements for recorded actor video--what they need to match the digital animation to the actor's face. So they must have somebody over there in Cali, recording something.

Of course I've been holding out for Jason, but I know he's busy filming in Rhode Island for the Brotherhood series, so I'm perfectly happy with Liam Neeson, if that's who it is.

Jason Issacs? In a series? What it is about? Sounds cool already.

You betcha. It's about two brothers--one bad, one good, living in an Irish neighborhood in Rhode Island.

PS: At the risk of spamming Amy's journal, do you mind if I friend you?

Thanks for the info. Methinks you will like the first video on this page...

Oooh, thanks for the insider scoop! I do think Jason Isaacs would have been wonderful, as well, but I'll be very happy if it is, in fact, Liam Neeson. :)

I can't think of anyone better, not only can he do the full range from gentle to scary, but he has a voice with a bit of growl in it just perfect for a lion :) Excellent news!

Yes indeed - good point! :)

Much as I abhor the trend of using celebrity voices in place of talented voice actors who can truly *act* with *just their voices* to breathe life into a character, I'm all for giving Liam Neeson a chance at this role! He even looks leonine! :-)

(Since I've opened the can of worms on your LJ, I have to now state that I am definitely *not* against the voiceover industry using actors who *also* happen to be talented voice-actors-- James Earl Jones, Harry Shearer, and Hank Azaria leap to mind. I merely object to the use of actors *purely* on the basis of their star-power without heed for their actual vocal capabilities.)

(Wow... I just realize that Aslan has James Earl Jones's voice in my head!... Hmm... shouldn't he have a British accent?... Great, now my head hurts. ;-))

I know what you mean, and I agree 100%. I am happy about Liam Neeson - by the way, he did great voice work in the series Liberty's Kids, and has narrated some terrific documentaries - and you're right, he even looks leonine!

James Earl Jones is the God of voices, though. Accent, schmaccent. :)

Oh, yes! Liam Neeson would be perfect! And, yes, he does have a leonine look.

Yay! I agree! :)

Aw, I'm sorry! I agree about Ralph Fiennes, by the way -- I don't want to mix my Aslan and my Voldemort! ;)

Welcome to cross-over hell... Just kidding. Seriously, Liam=Aslan-awesome!

LOL! I know what you mean! ;) It is cool, though, innit?

BTW, I just watched "Murder City." Loved the wink. I see what you mean about the voice, though it wasn't as drastic as I'd feared. The personality was there 110%, though, and I melted like always. *happy sigh* No one else can get so much bang out of every second of camera time. I owe you yet again.

Ahh! *flail* He has a perfect voice! Of course, it would also be terrible: one should not lust after Aslan's voice. :p
Jul. 14th, 2005 01:48 am (UTC)
Yes, the lust bit is a tad disturbing... but I'm sure I'll find a way to live with it. *wink* I hope this proves to be the true casting!

While I wish they could have gone with the original casting of Brian Cox, Liam is an acceptable substitute. ;)
