I'm baaack!!! (temporarily...)

I'm back from Trip #1 (which was fantastic), and I have a few days until Trip #2...

Huge thanks to those of you who so kindly sent v-gifts to my LJ! You've made my day. :D

Just a quick update for now. Here are a few bits of news...

-- 1. Adagio Teas now has a line of Sherlock-inspired blends! See them here.

-- 2. Investor's Business Daily ran a piece last week on Tecumseh's leadership style, and the article by Scott S. Smith quotes both me and the biography I wrote of Tecumseh: "Tecumseh's Integrity Attracted Warriors To His Cause."

-- 3. I've begun doing narrations for a terrific new podcast for dark fiction, Tales to Terrify, which is hosted by horror author Larry Santoro. My first unabridged reading for the podcast (P.D. Cacek's "Payback") is now available on the latest episode.

A parting smile for your Monday...

It's good you're doing more podcasts, you have a great voice for them.

Oh, what a lovely thing to say! Thank you so much. I actually hate listening to my own voice (it sounds far more "chipmunk-ish" recorded than it does in my head), but I do love to read aloud. I really appreciate your kind words.

Speaking of which, I'm still wishing for your novels to become audiobooks. Readers/listeners (including yours truly) would gobble them up!

Now, who's being kind? :)

Sadly, I doubt my books are big enough sellers ever to get this treatment. So far, my only podcast has been on pseudopod.org, with another due with them some time during 2012.

That's just wrong. *pouts*

Oooh, I'll be looking out for your next Pseudopod appearance, though! That's good news.

Thanks :)

Don't worry, I won't be shy about publicizing it ;p

Before you disappear into the Wild Blue Yonder, I have something which may be of interest (in case you missed it). For the past several months, I've been conducting my own little study on female presence in MST3K films. I posted the results the other day. Some of the results were a bit surprising.

I think this is fascinating. You know, you could make this into a con panel discussion or a talk!

I could write it maybe. But actually do it, not a chance. I'm afraid I'm terrible at public speaking. You could always do it yourself if you wanted to..

I've given this some thought and I think I've got an idea for the format. The inspiration comes from this panel I attended at MarsCon 2011 about the year's then upcoming nerd films. Audience members were each provided with two colored paddles, one red and one green. You held up the green one if you thought the movie mentioned was going to rock and red if you thought it was going to suck. I think something like this could work.
