Halloween Countdown, Day 20

Today I bring you the third part of the wonderful A Halloween Trilogy by Leonard Nimoy's and John de Lancie's theatrical company "Alien Voices" (including Jeffrey Combs, Francis Bay, Susan Bay, Marnie Mosiman, Dwight Schultz, Jean Simmons, and Kurtwood Smith, as well as Nimoy and de Lancie). (My post with the first part is here, and my post with the second part is here.) This special originally aired on October 26, 1998 on the Sci-Fi Channel.

This is an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado."

And here's the original...

Text of the Day: "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849).

Excerpt: The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge. You, who so well know the nature of my soul, will not suppose, however, that gave utterance to a threat. At length I would be avenged; this was a point definitely, settled --but the very definitiveness with which it was resolved precluded the idea of risk. I must not only punish but punish with impunity. A wrong is unredressed when retribution overtakes its redresser. It is equally unredressed when the avenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong.

It must be understood that neither by word nor deed had I given Fortunato cause to doubt my good will. I continued, as was my in to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my to smile now was at the thought of his immolation.

The Cask of Amontillado is referenced a lot in the media. I was watching TV the other day and just saw a reference!
