* This worthy Kickstarter has already met its goal, but there's still time to join the effort. I'm looking forward to my copy! MOONSHOT: The Indigenous Comics Collection, Vol. 1 is an incredible 200-page collection of short stories from Indigenous creators across North America, in comic book form. (Thanks to divadiane1.)

* "The Arthur Machen collection is at risk." This is a collection of international importance. (Thanks to wellinghall.)

* How does The Imitation Game compare to the real history behind it? Read "A Poor Imitation of Alan Turing." (Thanks to cookiefleck.)

* I was sorry to hear of the passing of Rod Taylor. He starred in a number of good films, but his The Time Machine is a work that's been especially near and dear to my heart since I was a child. Here's an obituary from People.

Apologies for being quiet. The new semester starts next week, and my plate is full! I hope all is well with you, my friends.

the comic book collection looks wonderful! Have forwarded the Machen info on to Ned Brooks (an interesting character in his own right):

Imitation Game: interesting indeed that they choose that as the title (all logic for the choice aside). I wondered why I didn't like the movie more than I did. It felt sort of like.. I don't know....I guess it felt like "The Great Escape" in a way. A film stuck cleaving to an untrue past, too afraid to tell a full (and non-commercial?) truth. What a pity.

I'm so excited about the comics collection! Thanks a million for forwarding on the Machen information (and for the Ned Brooks link, as well - very interesting indeed!).

I still intend to see The Imitation Game, but I may wait until it rolls around on DVD or streaming. At least I'll go into it with sufficiently lowered expectations.

Augh! Well said. A pity indeed. :(

Like any one or thing that I like a LOT, I have come to expect a lot (too much?) of Benedict Cumberbatch. I couldn't be in love with his performance, but I don't know if I should look to him for that lack....

Re Machen: Ned sort of grumpily replied that the collection wasn't in danger, that it would be (at worst) dispersed to other libraries.....

The comic collection does sound extraordinary, doesn't it?!
