A Very U.N.C.L.E. Birthday

Happy birthday to the brilliant st_crispins, with heartfelt wishes for many more happy days to come.

In other news, NarniaWeb has posted its official review of my Past Watchful Dragons conference here.

And now, in honor of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and st_crispins, I will quote from her wonderful essay "Everything I Ever Needed To Know About Life, I Learned From U.N.C.L.E.":

I suspect we are legion. We are an entire generation, the field agents of today, and we are everywhere.

Now, we operate undercover, discreetly and secretly --- sometimes even to ourselves. We carry invisible gold cards in our wallets. We respond to the call of silent communicators. We ally ourselves with the innocent. We oppose the grasping minions of Thrush. We work for human dignity, for social justice and for a peaceful future.

And we continue to dream of a world in which a cocky, extroverted American and a shy, introverted Russian, can be the best of friends.

I was an U.N.C.L.E. agent, and I still am. We are all U.N.C.L.E. agents.

And if we're not, we should be.

What a great essay. I'm going to have to send that to a friend of mine, a mutual MFU fan.

My second's on a great piece of writing. And a shame about no "squee." Nothing relaxes you like a good SQUEE! just ask our host. :)

That was an outstanding review of the conference. I was very pleased to have been there, and also to have met you. (I'm the husband of solodancer and the big brother to gondoriangirl. You, and the staff and faculty of Belmont did an outstanding job.

Please say there will be another one!

Thanks SO much for your kind words! You've totally made my day. I'm so thrilled that you had a good time. And I'm glad you could come! We are talking about something similar in the future, though I could use a little more recovery time before I think about that too much. ;) Seriously, I appreciate your encouragement and support!
